  • Many patients ask if their symptoms are related to an endocrine problem.

    Endocrine disease can present with a number of different symptoms and can vary from person to person.

    If you have any underlying issues, including high blood pressure, high cholesterol, heart disease or are pregnant, this also affects the treatment options available to you.

    Your doctor will organise initial investigations and refer you if there are any abnormal hormone levels that could be contributing to your symptoms.

  • Dr Shoung consults in all areas of General Endocrinology with a specific interest in pituitary disease, diabetes, weight management and thyroid disease.

    He also provides gender-affirming care.

    He completed a pituitary medicine fellowship at St Vincent’s Hospital Sydney and has always had an interest in technological advances in the management of diabetes including continuous glucose monitors and insulin pumps.

  • In order to receive a Medicare rebate, you will require a referral from a GP every 12 months or a Specialist every 3 months.

    Consultations can still be organised without a referral, however you will not receive a medicare rebate.

  • You can contact the team at the practice closest to you, who will help organise a booking and answer any questions you have.

  • Dr Shoung understands taking the time of your day to travel from a consultation can be difficult. Many of his patients live rurally or interstate.

    After an initial face-to-face consultation, Dr Shoung offers telehealth follow-up appointments at his North Sydney practice.

  • As Dr Shoung is consulting 5 days a week, you can often be seen promptly.

    We suggest speaking to your closest clinic to discuss the next available appointment.

    If you’re experiencing severe symptoms or are at high risk, an urgent review may be required. If this is the case, your doctor can contact Dr Shoung directly for advice.

  • Consultation fees vary depending on the clinic location, the complexity of the issues and the amount of time required.
