Bone Health
Including:
Osteoporosis
Osteopaenia
Looking after your bone health is important to reduce your risk of Osteopaenia and Osteoporosis, which can increase your risk of fractures. A bone density scan is used to measure your bone density and to assess if you fall into either one of these categories.
Depending on age and severity, osteopaenia or osteoporosis may require further investigations to assess if there are any underlying conditions that are contributing including medications, issues with calcium absorption or other medical conditions.
It is important that everyone has an adequate daily calcium intake for their age, regular resistance exercises and adequate vitamin D levels.
In addition to these lifestyle modifications, medications can help improve bone density and the best option differs from person to person.
